Waylon Smithers is a recurring character from the animated television series The Simpsons. He is best known as the loyal and long-suffering personal assistant, executive assistant and confidant to the ruthless Mr. Burns.

Smithers' first appearance was in the episode "Homer's Odyssey" (Season 1, 1990), although his skin tone was notably darker than his later, more familiar yellow. He has been a fixture in the series ever since, often portrayed as displaying romantic feelings for Mr. Burns, adding a layer of complexity and humor to his character.

In his role at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, Smithers handles most of Mr. Burns' day-to-day tasks, anticipating his needs and covering up his often-questionable actions. While frequently taken for granted, Smithers remains deeply devoted to his employer, embodying a unique blend of dedication and, at times, desperation for approval.
